Digital storytelling is proving to be an effective tool in reflective practice and teacher professional development. Earlier this year, I did an 'express' digital storytelling workshop with a lovely group of teacher educators from several Indonesian universities. In their stories, these teachers explored questions such as: "Why teaching for me?, Why am I passionate about my subject?, and "How did atomic theory develop!?"
My name is Kirsty McGeoch - English language teacher, researcher, world traveller, lover of languages and digital storytelling enthusiast.
Since July 2007, I have been working with groups of students from around the world to develop digital stories in their second language (L2) - English. This blog is a space for me to share my work, research, ideas and experiments in L2 digital storytelling.
Why am I so passionate about digital storytelling in language education? Because it is exciting on so many levels. Not only is it an engaging vehicle for students to work on their language skills, but they also get to express their creativity and identity, and learn a lot about each other though the process. Students find it motivating, and as a teacher, I find it to be the most rewarding work I have ever done.
